PEOPLE are urged to ditch their knives at a local police station as part as of police operation to crackdown on knife crime.
A knife surrender bin, located at Barnsley Police Station, on Churchfield, allows people to surrender knives anonymously.
This week, South Yorkshire Police have been carrying out focused activity to tackle knife crime and inform people of the dangers of carrying a knife.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We have knife surrender bins located across the county, where knives and weapons can be disposed of anonymously.
“When it comes to putting a stop to knife crime, you can help by telling someone what you know. Even the smallest bit of information can save a life.”
