A FOODBANK has encouraged local businesses, charities and schools to become a referral agent for the team as they help provide vital food packages across the borough.
A referral agent will help act as a middleman in order to provide vital food packages to those in need from Barnsley Foodbank.
Local charities that are already a referral agent include Citizens Advice, Local Welfare Assistance and Humankind.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Foodbank said: “If you find yourself in crisis and need a food parcel, you will need to contact a referral agent.
“If you’re a business, school, charity or community organisation that works with people who are in crisis, you are able to become a referral agent.”
