POLICE in Brierley have cracked down on antisocial behaviour after a series of fires over the past few weeks.

Officers from the Barnsley North East Neighbourhood Policing Team have released images of a fire that was set behind Spa Well Grove in Brierley, with the hope that it will prevent antisocial behaviour.

A spokesperson for the team said: “The risk these fires pose to the safety of the public and to those lighting them is significant. These fires have been worryingly close to the fences of home owners, and had they been damaged it would have constituted a criminal offence. The continual use of the fire service as a resource for these fires is not acceptable.

“For the safety of yourselves and others in the area, please refrain from starting any fires in a public place and consider the effects this has on the local community.”
