FAMILY members will be able to visit patients at Barnsley Hospital this week as lockdown restrictions begin to be eased.

Some visiting will be allowed at the hospital but visitors will have to abide by strict guidelines to help minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

Measures such as wearing a face covering, maintaining social distancing, and refraining from sitting on a patient's bed are in place.

There is also a limit of one visitor per person, and children are not allowed to visit.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospital said: “We continue to offer and encourage “Virtual visiting” for all inpatients who would like it. This means regular phone calls or WhatsApp video calling with help from staff and volunteers.”
