BARNSLEY’S vaccination team have urged residents over 50 years old and who haven’t had their coronavirus vaccine to call and book an appointment this week.

Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will now be rolling out the vaccine to those aged 50 or older or anyone in Group 6 who have underlying health conditions.

Group 6 includes people who have had a stroke, have COPD, have diabetes, or who have a BMI of 40 or over.

A spokesperson for Barnsley CCG said: “It also includes people eligible for a carer’s allowance, or those unpaid carers who are the sole or primary carer of an elderly person.

“Or a disabled person who is at increased risk of Covid-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable.

“Anyone who is 50 or over and hasn’t had their Covid-19 vaccine should now call the Barnsley vaccination team as soon as possible to book an appointment, in Barnsley, from this week.

“Appointments run from Thursday (March 18) until Sunday (March 21).

Anyone in these two groups shouldn’t wait to be contacted by the NHS and should book their appointment by calling 448808.
