BARNSLEY Hospital has revealed that more than 210 babies were born last month with more than half of the newborns being girls.

The midwifery unit at the hospital reveal monthly figures detailing the different types of births throughout the month.

The team reported that 215 women gave birth throughout February, with the busiest days being February 9 when 12 babies were born.

There were more girls born than boys, with 119 compared to 98.

During February, there were 9 water births, one home birth, and two sets of twins were born.

The heaviest baby weighed 12 pounds, whereas the smallest was born three pounds.
