PUPILS at a primary school in Worsbrough have been out and about finding scarecrows ahead of World Book Day next week.

Students at Worsbrough Common Primary School, alongside children from Ward Green Primary School, have been making and finding their own scarecrows across the neighbourhood.

The scarecrows are inspired by the students’ favourite book characters - ahead of World Book Day on March 4.

Some of the best and most creative designs will win some prizes from school staff.

A spokesperson for Worsbrough Common Primary said: “As part of our World Book Day celebrations we will be holding a book character scarecrow building competition and would love to brighten up our local area with colourful scarecrows based on book characters.

“We are working in collaboration with Ward Green Primary and our aim is to create a scarecrow trail which children can follow when out taking their daily exercise and adhering to government guidelines.”
