Child benefit payments to change in April

FAMILIES across Barnsley may receive a boost as child benefit payments are set to rise this April.

The government payment, which is designed to help with the costs of a dependent, will rise from £21.05 per week to £21.15 on April 12.

This change reflects the rising cost of inflation, and will affect families across Barnsley.

For families with more than one child, the payment will rise to £14 per week.

The new financial year will begin on April 6 and will end at the end of March 2022.
