A BARNSLEY charity has joined a new council-led scheme to help older residents get internet access during the lockdown.

Age UK Barnsley has joined Barnsley Council’s ‘Project Digital’ which helps to make internet usage more accessible across the borough.

The aim is to get older residents online whilst self-isolating at home.

The scheme offers three months of free internet access, a free loan of an electronic device and free technical support.

To qualify, the resident must be 50 years old and above and live in Barnsley, be socially isolated (whether alone or with a partner), and not have any internet access at home other than a phone.
