GRITTERS are out in force again this morning, making sure major routes are safe for drivers.
The gritting teams took to the roads last night as temperatures continued to plummet.
So far this winter, the council have completed 88 gritting runs - 40 of the runs from the Smithies Depot, and 48 from Penistone covering higher routes.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “Our gritting crews have been busy keeping Barnsley moving by treating our roads through the night.
“Take extra care when travelling today and plan your journey with South Yorkshire grit.”
