RESIDENTS are urged to be aware as a flood warning is in place following last weekend's snowfall.
As the snow has melted, river levels have risen and there is a flood alert in place for parts of the River Don.
A period of heavy rain is also expected tonight (January 18) which could help drive up river levels further.
A spokesperson for the government’s Flood Information Service said: “As the ground is saturated and river levels elevated, we are monitoring the situation closely and will be assessing whether we need to issue flood warnings from Tuesday onwards.
“Our operational staff will be out today checking our flood defences and clearing screens ahead of the rainfall.
“Please stay away from low lying roads, which may be flooded. Be aware of standing water which may make driving conditions hazardous.”
Residents who live in low-lying areas are being urged to be more aware of river levels and to make flood preparations where necessary.
