BARNSLEY Council’s fostering team is urging more residents to become foster carers as the number of children needing a placement grew significantly last year.
Fostering Barnsley, which is part of Barnsley Council, revealed that it had seen a rise in the number of Barnsley children needing a placement from around 300 a year to 350 in 2020.
The group has now taken to social media to encourage more residents to come forward and foster a child.
A spokesperson for Fostering Barnsley said: “We urgently need new carers to come forward to be assessed to foster for Barnsley.
“Our team is still here to answer your questions and process new applications to foster in Barnsley.
“We can complete the whole process virtually, including preparation training and assessment.”
