RESIDENTS of Hoylandswaine may be left without a gas supply tonight after water entered the supply pipes.

The problem was noted earlier this evening (December 27), and supplier Cadent is working to fix the issue.

In a tweet, Barnsley Council confirmed that the most vulnerable residents in the village will be prioritised, but gas supply may not be fully restored this evening.

A spokesperson for Cadent said: "Our engineers are dealing with a loss of gas supplies to the whole village of Hoylandswaine near Barnsley due to water getting into our gas pipes.

"We are working to get gas supplies back on as soon as possible."
