POLICE carried out patrols at a Darfield school after reports of obstructive parking.

Today, December 15, officers from Barnsley South East Neighbourhood Policing Team attended Upperwood Academy to advise parents and carers after concerns were raised by residents.

A spokesperson for the team said: “In an ideal world, parents would walk their children to school, but we realise this is not always practical.

“However, blocking driveways is not acceptable and we ask that parents show consideration to local residents.

“Never park on the yellow zig zags. They are there for a reason - to protect the children from harm.

“Parking on zig zags is never acceptable.

“Finally, we know the school run can be stressful but please consider your manner of driving during these times.”
