A SOCIAL group which offers support for those living with dementia will host their annual Christmas get together on Thursday - though this year it will take place online.
The monthly Great Get Together and Superjam events have been taking place on Facebook since the virus hit, and the event which takes place next Thursday at 2pm will be in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Event organiser Kathy Markwick said: “We are inviting schools, businesses and offices to join us and perhaps have a dress up/down day, Christmas jumper day or to donate in lieu of sending Christmas cards.
“Any support by way of donation would be greatly appreciated - the event will comprise an hour of wonderful live music, Christmas songs and carols.”
Anna Gott, regional fundraiser for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Kathy for holding a special Great Together Christmas Superjam party to help support local families going through some of the toughest times imaginable.
“Bluebell Wood Hospice has looked after 34 children from Barnsley and a further five bereaved families who have accessed their services.
“While Christmas parties are certainly going to be a little different this year, Kathy’s pulled out all the stops for this extra special event which is not to be missed.
“We know it’s going to be tough for so many people this winter who can’t be near friends and loved ones, so this is the perfect way to connect with others and spread some festive cheer.”
Singers Stevie Moore and Patricia Lynn will be performing at the event.
