A 46-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court after he reportedly threatened members of the public with a suspected firearm.

David Broomhead, of Worsbrough Road, was arrested last week on the suspicion of firearms offences.

Police were alerted to the incident on October 7 at 6.15pm in Hoyland.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Armed response officers were deployed and located the man, who was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

“A gas powered pistol was later seized.”

Broomhead has been charged with possession of a firearm or imitation with intent to cause fear of violence and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court today (October 12).
