A GROUP of volunteers have won a national award for their hard work improving Worsbrough Mill Country Park.

The Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers were names volunteers of the year in the Museums and Heritage Awards.

The team is made up of young people from across the borough with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) who help to improve outdoor spaced at the park.

They have made bird boxes, wildlife habitats and have raised almost £100 in donations.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the work of the Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers has been recognised in this way.

“The improvements they have made to the country park have had such a positive impact on visitors and we would really like to thank them for their continued hard work and dedication.

“We look forward to working with the group and all our volunteers in the future on new and exciting projects.”
