A CARE home in Darfield has issued its thanks to local students who helped raise funds for dementia therapy cats.

Pupils from Netherwood Academy, in Wombwell, helped to raise enough money to provide Thornhill Care Home, on Church Street, with the robotic cats that help calm residents who have dementia.

Christian Whiteley-Mason, the manager at the home, said: “A big thank you to Netherwood School who has fundraised and helped us get two dementia therapy cats for the residents.

"The cats were purchased by money raised over the Christmas period, but were delivered by volunteer Barbara Lee on Sunday.

“The residents have found these very relaxing, and I would like to thank the children for their community spirit and for thinking of us.”
