A MURDER investigation has been launched by police after the death of a man in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Darley Avenue, Athersley, at 11.08pm last night (June 26) following reports that a man had been stabbed.
The 43-year-old was taken to hospital but died shortly after midnight.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "An investigation is now underway and the man’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.
"We are urging anyone with any information about the man’s death to contact us. Please call 101 and quote incident number 1227 of June 26."
