A POPULAR fishing spot will re-open this week after government guidelines allow the public to visit parks and open spaces.

Milton Ponds, Hoyland, closed in March after government guidelines prevented sport and fishing from taking place.

However after a consultation with the council following new information released by the government fishing will resume at the site on Wednesday.

In a post on Facebook a spokesperson for Milton Ponds said: “We encourage all anglers to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines while on site which includes staying two metres apart and no net sharing.

“Correct payment must also be made which will be dropped into a disinfected container and night fishing will not be allowed.

“Thank you for your continued support from anglers and to the wider community over the past few months. Stay safe and we will stay open.”
