CHANGES made to a Barnsley bus service have been made following the results of a public consultation held in January.

From tomorrow (Sunday April 28), the 59 and 59 to Royston will be renumbered to 59a. There are no changes to the route or times.

The 66 will have a service reduction on Monday to Saturday with timetable changes to improve punctuality.

The service 28 will follow a more direct route between Hemsworth and Pontefract, providing customers with a faster journey.

Commercial director at Stagecoach Yorkshire, John Young, said: “This change will benefit the vast majority of our service 28 customers. “We know punctuality is absolutely key and we are determined to provide a reliable source.

“Unfortunately we will no longer be serving Purston Jaglin, although an average of only 2.3 of passengers per trip will be inconvenienced by this change.”
