PARENTS were forced to make alternative care arrangements on Friday after a primary school was burgled, forcing it to close.

In the early hours of Friday, Brampton Ellis School, on Brampton Road in Welt Melton, Rotherham was broken into by three offenders.

The offenders entered the school by breaking a window, before injecting expandable foam into the alarm boxes in an effort to silence them.

Police believe the offenders were attempting to steal a safe from inside the school building.

Police Constable Brett Thompson said: “So much damage was caused during the incident that the school had to remain closed on Friday.

"This caused significant inconvenience to staff and parents who had to make alternative arrangements to care for children who should have been at school.
