THE Tour De Yorkshire Trophies will be visiting Barnsley ahead of the races in May.

Next Wednesday, the trophies visiting a number of preselected schools and residents will have an opportunity to look at them at Barnsley Markets from 10am to 10.45am.

There will be an opportunity to see them at the Mapplewell Co-op between 11:45am and 12:30pm and finally Royston Leisure Centre from 3:15pm to 4:30pm.

Coun David Leech said: “We’d love to see residents coming along to the markets, the co-op in Mapplewell or Royston Leisure centre to see the now world-famous trophies and have their picture taken with them.

“The excitement of the tour is growing and growing in Barnsley, and this is a great opportunity to see the trophies extremely well sought after by world class cyclists which this year will likely include Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas."
