A TOUR de Yorkshire Roadshow is heading to Barnsley ahead of the races on May 3.

On Monday January 14, residents are invited to join Welcome to Yorkshire at the Barnsley Civic for their first roadshow.

The roadshows give a detailed view of the route and provide local residents, businesses and community groups with all the information they need to embrace the fifth edition.

Barnsley Council is also hosting its own roadshow at Mapplewell Village hall on Tuesday 22 January at 6pm to speak to local residents and businesses to encourage everybody to get involved with the event and to go over the finer details on what to expect in order to make the most of the opportunity.

Coun Roy Miller said: “These events are a good opportunity for businesses, community groups, schools or everybody else to come along and get a clear understanding of how Friday 3 May will run. It offers a wide range of people to share information regarding our town and this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, especially following the success of last year.

“We’re delighted to be hosting a start for the women’s and men’s races once again and it will open up a lot of exciting opportunities for our community, local businesses and residents to get involved. We have a lot to offer here in Barnsley and this roadshow is a fantastic way to ensure we make the most of it.”
