POLICE are appealing for witnesses after £1000 worth of Koi Carp was stolen from a house in Worsbrough Bridge.

Between 9am and 5pm on Sunday July 1, suspects have entered the garden of a house in John Street, while the occupant, a woman in her 70s, was out.

The suspects then stole a quantity of Koi Carp from a pond in the garden and left the area.

At this time, officers do not have a description of those involved and are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to please come forward.

PC Nigel Finlay, investigating, said: “The fish are of huge sentimental value to the woman. They were owned by her late husband, who passed away only recently and had been given to him for father’s day, and some more to his wife after he passed away.

“Understandably, this has caused considerable distress to the victim, who is still grieving for her husband. As our enquiries continue, I’d like to please ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between the times mentioned to get in touch with us.”
