TRAVEL South Yorkshire will be charging £1 for a new smartcard from June 1.
The smartcards were introduced as a way of topping up weekly and monthly passes for users aged 16 to 25 to replace paper passes.
Currently, if you lose your card there is no charge for a replacement.
The charge has been added to prevent people discarding passes and reusing the pass they have, saving money and the environment.
Tickets can be purchased from a ticket machine or on your bus or tram.
