A MAN who admitted charges of assault, controlling behaviour and stalking has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Aaron Wood, of Hanover Street, Thurnscoe, was charged following a series of incidents in Great Houghton.

The 30-year-old was given a 12-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, and told to carry out 80 hours’ unpaid work. Wood was told to pay court costs of £85 and a £187 surcharge.

A DARFIELD man charged with criminal damage after he reportedly spat inside a police car will appear in court later this month. John Hanrahan, 31, of South View, has not yet entered a plea following the alleged offence on May 12. He will appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on June 25.

A WOMBWELL man who admitted driving on the Dearne Valley Parkway while on cocaine has been banned from driving. Dean Clarke, 52, of Newsome Avenue, pleaded guilty to driving with a controlled drug and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday. The incident occurred on the Dearne Valley Parkway on February 9. He was banned from driving for 12 months and told to pay costs of £85 and a £48 victim surcharge. He will make monthly instalments of £20.

A BARNSLEY man who admitted stealing a number of products from Asda has been fined. Kieran Nash, 24, of Heelis Street, pleaded guilty to theft after stealing items including wine and kitchen roll on May 18. Nash was told to pay £40 in compensation and was handed a £40 fine.

A MAN who stole a crate of Pepsi will appear in court for sentencing. Callum Davies, of North Royds Wood, Athersley North, admitted the theft which occurred at his local Co-op branch on April 29. The 30-year-old initially failed to surrender to police and will be sentenced at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on July 10.
