A PUBLIC meeting is being organised after disgruntled residents complained about a lack of consultation relating to a new housing estate.

The site, on High Street in Shafton, will be transformed into an ‘affordable housing’ development made up of 40 properties.

Countryside Partnerships has secured a contract with housing provider The Guinness Partnership to create the estate, but Shafton Parish Council representatives are seeking to organise a meeting.

A council report said: “Various members of the public have raised questions and concerns about the new housing development, including a lack of consultation, traffic issues, the houses proposed, access and drainage.

“It wasn’t realised that residents around Acacia Drive had not been consulted and we will seek to hold a public meeting with someone from Barnsley Council’s planning department and the developer to address their concerns.”
