LOCAL councillors met with pupils of Gawber Primary School to unveil a new history board the school had made.
Members of the school council, with help from deputy headteacher Rachel Knox, the Gawber History Group and designer David Exley, designed the board that includes information about the school’s past, present and future.
This is the latest in a series of history boards in Gawber produced by the history group with ward alliance support.
Gawber Primary School has worked with the group over several years to develop a ward walk covering all the boards, their content and associated researched materials to enrich student participation.
Jake Gledhill, a year six pupil, won a school writing competition where he wrote a story predicting the future of the school – in it he describes it as continuing to be at the heart of the community.
Earlier this month, they were joined by local councillors Alice and Trevor Cave to unveil the board on the corner of Church Street.
Ms Knox said: “We are extremely proud of how hard our school council have worked to create this board and so thankful for the input of the history group. The children have been excited to create something that will now become a part of the history of our village and will be used by Gawber kids and the rest of our community.”
