A MAPPLEWELL primary school have been praised for their anti-bullying campaign.
Wellgate Primary School began their journey to develop their anti-bullying provision in September.
This was through taking part in the Anti-Bullying Association’s ‘United Against Bullying Programme’ – and earlier this month they were awarded a gold status.
Only 11 per cent of the 259 schools nationally that took part were awarded gold.
The programme supported the school to audit provision already in place and develop an action plan before being given the time to work towards the targets set.
Staff at the school said that they are proud of the anti-bullying culture at the organisation, and children are now more confident to explain the true definition of bullying and have an increased awareness of the roles that can be involved in bullying.
Acting headteacher Katie Richardson said: “The award is an amazing achievement. It is recognition to the dedication that Parisa Nowshirvani, the children and all of the staff have in ensuring that our school has a culture of anti-bullying, and is a safe and happy place to learn.”
