BARNSLEY Council is offering residents with learning disabilities the chance to shape future plans.

An event will be held on April 11 at the Metrodome from 10.30am until 2.30pm. The My Big Voice event will allow people with learning disabilities and their loved ones to share their views on what the council can do to support them.

Wendy Lowder, executive director for place health and adult social care, said: “In Barnsley, we’re committed to working together across health and care to help people live happier, healthier lives.

“I’m really proud of the great services we already have in Barnsley to help people with learning disabilities, such as our LGC Award-nominated supported employment team, but we want to go further to help people get the support they need. I’m excited about next month’s My Big Voice event – the information and insights people with a learning disability, their families and carers share are vital and will shape our future plans.

“Please pop by next month and be part of the conversation.”
