YOUNG footballers from a Barnsley school are celebrating two big wins on successive days this week.

On Thursday, the Year 6 team from Lacewood Primary School came from behind to beat Brampton Ellis 4-3 in the Totty Cup final.

And just 24 hours later, they won the Northern Region of the Pokémon Cup at Liverpool FC Academy.

They faced ten other schools from all over the North, overcoming a team from Greater Manchester in the final.

To qualify for the event, the Bolton-upon-Dearne team won their local section, then the Barnsley section and also came out winners in the South Yorkshire section.

They are now the first school from Barnsley to be champions of the North.

Of the 5,000 schools who entered the Pokémon Cup, there are now down to the last 12,
