A PROUD of Barnsley-winning school opened their doors for visitors to see the improvements pupils have made with their reading abilities.
Laithes Lane Primary School had around 20 leaders and teachers from 14 other nearby schools to visit and witness pupils’ love of reading on Tuesday.
They toured each classroom, observed reading lessons, and met with staff and children from the school.
Headteacher, Georgina Fletcher, said: “Our pupil reading ambassadors told visitors all about the importance of reading and how they provide help for younger pupils or struggling older readers.
“They also described special visits to the local library and weekly assemblies that celebrate reading for pleasure. Parents are attending regular ‘reading cafe’ sessions where they enjoy reading with their child in school.
“We have some beautiful book nooks and reading corners throughout school and both indoor and outdoor libraries.”
