YOUNG and old are limbering up for a charity rugby league match tomorrow in memory of a former player.

The Dearne Valley Bulldogs’ annual Boxing Day Battle of the Ages match will this year raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Every year a team of over 30s and under 30s take to the field at Ingsfield Lane in Bolton-upon-Dearne to play for the Matthew Mason Memorial Cup.

Club president Duncan Henderson said: “It’s always good to bring past players back and mix them up with the present team.

“The match is also in memory of a great young player and for a great charity.

“Matthew played for the club right through the youth set-up before tragically losing his life around four years ago.

“Whether you play or watch, everyone is welcome to attend the match.”

The kick-off will be at midday.
