A KIRK Balk Academy pupil is celebrating after winning the Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club’s children’s art competition.
Year nine student Payton Bidwell said she was delighted to win the key stage three category of the competition for her detailed sketch of a pocket watch.
The competition was split into six key stage categories and judged by Barnsley’s renowned comic book artist, Dean Ormston.
The awards ceremony and art exhibition of the winning pieces, along with all other entries, was opened in the Rigby Suite of the Metrodome by Barnsley’s Deputy Mayor, Coun John Clarke.
The exhibition was then displayed at Barnsley Town Hall before moving onto Library @ the Lightbox.
Payton said: “I enjoy art because it helps me pass the time, but also calms me down.
“It helps me express my interests, thoughts and ideas.”
