FLY-TIPPING is proving to be a continued ‘blight’ to the people of Wombwell despite a recent prosecution.

The latest incident took place on Smithy Lane last Tuesday, and saw large amounts of rubbish ditched bordering the nearby woods.

Coun James Higginbottom said: “I was made aware of this disgraceful incident which was referred to neighbourhood services for prompt clearing and passed on for investigation.

“Barnsley Council takes a zero tolerance approach to fly-tipping, as shown by the recent prosecution for fly-tipping in Wombwell Woods.

“This appalling blight on our communities will not be tolerated and those responsible will face the full force of the law.”
