TWO Barnsley FC Women’s players visited a local primary school last week in aid of World Mental Health Day.

Last Monday, forward Lynn Goodman and defender Macy Lunn visited Queens Road Academy near the town centre to speak to pupils about the important of physical and mental wellbeing.

A spokesperson for the Barnsley FC Community Trust said: “As a charitable organisation we run multiple sessions promoting the importance of mental health and World Mental Health Day is a fantastic opportunity of raising awareness and getting people to talk about mental health.

“The ladies, popped into every classroom to talk about mental health and the importance of taking part in physical activity and the benefit it can have on it.

“Learning about mental health from a young age is more important than ever and can have a big benefit on children in the future.

“The children also had the opportunity to ask them questions about all things Barnsley FC Women and promoting inclusion within sport.”
