AGE UK Barnsley launched its Newsome Vale chat and brew group last week.
Taking place every Tuesday afternoon, between 2pm and 3pm, a mixture of games, crafts and the occasional trip out will be on the agenda.
The sessions cost £1 but all the proceeds go towards supporting the group.
Debby Bunn, the charity’s chief executive, said: “We are very pleased to have launched Chat and a Brew at Newsome Vale Independent Living Facility in Wombwell, which will provide a friendly and supportive group for older people – both for residents in Newsome Vale and those who live nearby.
“Our Age UK Barnsley social groups and activities are designed to tackle loneliness and social isolation and ensure that every older person in our community has somewhere to go where they can be themselves.”
