BARNSLEY Central MP Dan Jarvis has thrown his full support behind a local festival taking place in Barnsley this weekend.

Underneath the Stars Festival is an annual event which takes place at Cinderhill Farm in Cawthorne.

Local lad Shaun Dooley will be on hand to amuse audiences whilst former chart-toppers Scouting for Girls will headline the festival today.

Dan told the Chronicle: “It’s a stellar local event, putting Barnsley on the festival map and attracts visitors from near and far.

“The festival is brilliant for Barnsley, aside from driving up footfall which is great for local businesses it’s also a chance to showcase some of our home grown talent.

“This year there’s a quality line-up of bands and comedy, including an audience with local lad, Shaun Dooley and our very own sensational Barnsley Youth Choir.

“Whatever the weather, it’s guaranteed to be a wonderful three days and I’d encourage anyone able to, to bring a brolly and come along.”
