MEMBERS of Barnsley Youth Theatre will be in Mapplewell Park this weekend celebrating the village’s history with a special performance.

Mapplewell Memories will feature scenes marking the history of the village including nail making and when the first doctor came to the area.

Artistic director Jack Riley said: “A couple of the scenes explore intergenerational relationships in the village and others look at historical events. It all comes together with a big song about the village at the end.

“The performance begins at 12.15pm on Sunday and prior to that we are taking the performance to Mapplewell Manor care home.

“Everyone is welcome to come along to the park to see us from 12.15 until 1pm.”
