A NUMBER of adults and children who took part in a sponsored challenge to raise much-needed funds for a mental health charity exceeded their target by more than £200.

Two Barnsley Woolley Miners’ Cricket Club players, Callum and Ben Bentley, were just two of the 14 adults who took part in the ‘Total Warrior’ 12km challenge, alongside nine children who completed a 3k distance.

The charity they chose – Bee Kind for Honey – was launched last year in a bid to raise awareness of mental health in youngsters by Gemma Cook, whose daughter, Honey, took her own life during lockdown, aged 15.

Gemma said: “Everyone dressed up in a bee-themed outfit, with yellow socks, headbands and our Bee Kind for Honey t-shirts.

“It was brilliant and the children all did wonderfully well.”

The total raised through the Just Giving page was £1,235.
