STAFF and pupils from two Barnsley schools are celebrating after picking up a host of awards recently.

Barnsley Academy and Hunningley Primary Academy picked up an impressive five awards between them at United Learning’s Best in Everyone Awards 2023, held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens last Friday.

One of the most prestigious awards went to Hunningley teaching assistant, Pauline Dinsdale, who received the primary Lifetime Achievement Award.

Pauline first joined the school in 1999 as a school meals support assistant before taking up her current role in 2004.

Also honoured during the evening was Hunningley assistant principal Kirsty Hughes who was presented with the primary School Leader of the Year Award.

She said: “I feel incredibly honoured to have been recognised by United Learning for my contribution to Hunningley Primary Academy and the wider group community.

“I am very lucky to work with such a wonderful team who make my role as a leader so easy.”

From Barnsley Academy, three students took home individual awards having displayed ‘exceptional dedication and prowess’ in their respective fields.

Year ten student Elliot Blades secured the Creative Writing Award, year 11 student Drew Leonard was named winner of the Computing Award, and Jack Boast, also in year 11, was crowned Sportsman of the Year.
