A BARNSLEY woman’s weight loss has led to a new career and she is launching a class for others to follow suit as a result of her experiences.
Rachel Taylor, 38, decided she needed to do something for herself after her poor health led to her losing a job she loved and the lifestyle she once led.
After dropping her daughter at school one Wednesday morning in September 2021, she noticed the sign for Slimming World and thought the time was right for a change.
She said: “Arthritis and fibromyalgia had taken over my body and led me to having to give up lots of things I loved.
“I then lost my dad and turned to food for comfort, this in turn led to my health getting worse.
“The first time I walked into group, I was met by a lovely group of people, I was offered a drink and given a very warm welcome.
“It was like walking into a family event rather than a strange group.
“The following week I returned and was over the moon to have lost 3lbs I couldn’t believe I’d lost weight eating such large portions and that the kids had eaten healthily too.”
Rachel is relaunching the group she joined in Worsbrough on a Wednesday morning from next week, at Ward Green Baptist Church on Vernon Road at 9am.
“In the first nine months I lost three stone and reached my personal target,” she added.
“I chose my own target which I was grateful for as it was my own dream weight.
“I couldn’t have done this without staying to share recipes, tips and receive valuable support.
“Nearly a year on and I am still in my target range, making me a diamond member.
“I enjoy a variety of food including pasta, pizza and the occasional takeaway or a gin with diet lemonade.”
