BARNSLEY Town Concert Band will take to the stage at a national festival next month.

The band will perform at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, with 45 young musicians from across the borough set to play alongside other bands from England.

The Music for Youth festival will kick off on July 7 and run for two days.

Coun Robert Frost, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “We’re extremely proud to hear that the Barnsley Town Concert Band will perform at such a prestigious venue.

“This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and growth of the talented young musicians.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills at one of the country’s top concert venues.

“The band are honoured to represent Barnsley and South Yorkshire at the national festival.”
