FUNDRAISER Scott Thorpe has the bear necessities with him this weekend.

The businessman convinced the original Miller Bear, Rotherham United’s mascot, to loan him the suit for the weekend so he could attempt to see off all the other teams’ mascots at the famed race at Wetherby Racecourse today.

This involves Scott, 37, negotiating five jumps, the open ditch and water jump to cross the line which is a tall order as he has only recently undergone keyhole surgery on his knee.

The lifelong Miller has two causes in mind, Rotherham Hospice, and Brampton-based boxing club Micky’s Athletic, whom he sponsors through his business The Money Group.

He is hoping his efforts will help raise £1,500 in total.
