A MAN has appeared in court today in connection with a shooting incident in Goldthorpe last Saturday.

Steven Watkins, 38, of no fixed address, was arrested in Cornwall on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been charged with attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

South Yorkshire Police said that officers were called to a report of a firearms discharge on Washington Road, Goldthorpe, just before midnight last Saturday (March 11).

Emergency services attended and detectives immediately launched an investigation and discovered what they suspect to be evidence of a discharge inside an address.

A man is believed to have entered an address and shot at a man in his 20s who received minor injuries as a result.

A firearm was located and seized at the scene by officers.

Watkins was remanded into police custody and appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ today.
