PLANS to build 17 new homes in Elsecar have gone to public consultation.

An application was submitted last week to build the properties, all of which will have three bedrooms, to the north-west of Cobcar Lane.

The proposed properties are a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties, made up of six different house types.

The site has not been the subject to any previous planning applications.

A planning document states: “The existing undeveloped site offers the opportunity to deliver an attractive and high-quality residential scheme of 17 dwellings.

“There is a significant need for this type of high-quality family housing both in Barnsley and more widely across the country.

“Furthermore, the proposed housing scheme at Cobcar Lane would aid Barnsley Council in meeting their yearly required housing stock.”

A total of 62 neighbours have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date.

Public consultation is now underway.
