A HOLIDAY club – put on for children who are in receipt of free school meals – has been praised by a Barnsley MP for helping out during a time of need.
Stephanie Peacock, MP for Barnsley East, attended one of the Christmas get-togethers – held at the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre in Cudworth – which ran from December 19 and December 23.
She was invited along to meet participants and hear about their experiences of the club at their Christmas party.
“It was great to attend and I really enjoyed talking to the attendees,” she said.
“I heard about their experience of this excellent initiative over the first week of the Christmas break.
“I am proud of how our community pulls together to support those who need it, at Christmas time and all year round.
“Thank you to the organisers for running this fantastic scheme, and for inviting me along to join in on the final day.”
