A LOCAL charity will be launching a new lunch group in a bid to combat loneliness and reduce social isolation.

Age UK's South Area Social Inclusion Project, based on Eldon Street in Barnsley town centre, will be launching a new group - 'Darfield Let's Do Lunch' - in January, providing a hot meal and friendly company for people who might otherwise go without.

Chief executive, Debby Burn, said "We are very excited to be setting up a new lunch group in Darfield in January.

"These kinds of groups are always a hit with local residents - providing a two course dinner and company for those who feel a bit lonely or don't get to see many people. "If anyone is interested in attending the new Darfield group, please do get in touch".

The group will meet at Audrey's Cafe at Strawbridge Garden Centre in Darfield. To book a place, call Sharon on 01226 776820.
