A GROUP of Barnsley Sixth Form College students have teamed up to raise money to help tackle period poverty.

Period poverty is the lack of access to sanitary products due to financial constraints.

This can be caused by a wide range of life events that negatively impact on a girl or woman’s ability to access sanitary products to manage a regular occurrence in her life.

The feminist society at the college decided they wanted to help combat this by hosting a bake sale.

Faith Unwin, 16, told the Chronicle: “We’re doing the bake sale to raise money to help with period poverty.

“We’re in the feminist society and wanted to do something to help,

“We’re hosting the bake sale on December 2 at the sixth form college.”

The group are hoping to raise £100 and a link can be found here to donate.
